Roots brings the warmth of handmade terracotta to a small 4 × 4 in porcelain tile. A deep gloss glaze, softened edges and deliberate piece-to-piece variation give Honey and Olive a handcrafted character, especially on walls.

Format

Nominal 4 × 4 in (11 × 11 cm; 4.3 in in the catalogue), 10 mm thick. Pieces reproduce a handmade tile, so sizes vary slightly from piece to piece. Diagram, not to scale.

Where it can go

Honey Gloss and Olive Gloss suit indoor and outdoor walls, showers and steam rooms. These gloss colours are not recommended for floors, pools, kitchen countertops or any surface in contact with food.

Installation

Roots reproduces a handmade tile, so sizes vary slightly between pieces. Check the colour range before installation and blend pieces from several boxes. Use adhesive and grout suited to the setting. The manufacturer recommends 2 mm joints and advises adjusting each piece by hand rather than using spacers; have your installer confirm the method.

Care

After installation, remove adhesive and grout residue with a diluted tile descaler, leaving it on for no more than 5 minutes, then rinse. For everyday cleaning, a sponge, warm water and neutral soap are enough. Avoid powder detergents, steel wool and abrasive products.
